Lord, had I a thousand tongues, I would praise you with all of them…

I cannot begin to thank you for your prayers. They have overwhelmed us with the peace, calm and joy that can only come from the Lord.

I wish with all of my heart that I could tell you the WHOLE story of how the Lord showed up and moved mountains today.. But since a certain someone won’t be finished legalizing all our new paper work until next week, I feel it is best to wait.

I will tell you this though: Mr. Someone showed up an hour early. I was shaken. The first hour did NOT go well. But at 10 am. Oh, your prayers softened even the hardest heart. The power of those prayers pressed down all around us until the presence of God was so tangible in the room even a non-believer could not deny it. Words came out of my mouth that were not ever planned in my mind.

I meet Mr. Someone again tomorrow and hope and plead and pray he will keep the words he promised me today. I have a good feeling though… How could I not!

He truly IS able to do more than all we could ask or imagine.

I am deeply, incredibly, humbly grateful. So thankful for the Lord and His great mercy and Compassion, that He sits so high upon His throne and would look so low as to take an interest in my problems. So thankful for His word that has been the solid rock I can stand on, the promise I can rest in. So SO thankful for you, brothers and sisters, the body of Christ, standing with me, holding up my arms, encouraging and stregthening my heart.

I would feel so greatly honored if, as you pray for us throughout this week as we are waiting on our papers, we could pray for you as well. There is nothing sweeter than the opportunity to stand together before the Mighty One, praising, thanking, asking for eachother.

  1. Katie,

I first heard your story when you came to my church this summer (I go to Strong Tower). You have been in my thoughts and prayers ever since.

Imagine my delight when a friend told me that you had a blog! It is such a privilege to be able to read your words, see pictures of your beautiful family, and offer prayers to the Father on your behalf.

  2. What a blessing to read such wonderful news. I am always amazed how God moves mountains and shines at moments when we need him most. Ever since we began an adoption for our daughter (now on adoption #2), we have seen the presence of God when we need him most. Following others blogs has been a source of strength too. I think we found your blog through Adrienne whom we met during our Russian adoption.

    Psalm 146:9
The LORD protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked.

  10. I am SO excited to hear how God is answering our prayers for you! My children and I have been praying daily.

We are praying constantly about when to come to Uganda…Karamoja is constantly on our minds. Pray that God will take care of the details and bring people with similar hearts to go with us. We will have no one in Kotido to help us find housing, etc…it's scary to think of moving with my four small children, but I know God is calling us to go, and I'm feeling like it must be soon…

Hopefully we'll meet you there in a few months! Love and blessings to you!

  11. Katie, we do lift you and all your little girls to our ABBA Father. He alone is able. I am so thankful for you and your heart to be transparent, it is such a blessing.
Our prayer this week is for my dad,Richard, he has been given 6 months to live with end stage cancer. He says he knows Jesus, but I am not sure. I pray for his spiritual healing first and if the Lord would see fit, his physical healing as well.
Thank you Katie, I love standing together as a body.

  12. It was 6:00pm your time when I first started reading your blog. It is now 10:45pm. I have laughed, cried, prayed and lifted you all up in prayer. (all while sitting here at my desk at work, mind you) And also realized the passion/dream God gave to me in junior high for Africa, for starting an orphanage, for praying for HIS people has been buried for over a decade. Thank you for sharing your journey. God is using you to stir up HIS passion for me.

I am so excited to begin my journey. Well, excited isn't even the right word, but I have a feeling you know what I am trying to say.

God Bless you and your family.

  14. Katie, what a joy it has been to get to know you and your girls, and an honor to pray for you all! In your situation, answered prayers are so obvious!! If you wish, please pray for me and my hubby, emptyl-nesters, who are feeling the dullness of 'this life' and wanting to do more, but we are unsure what! I desire to hear God's voice directing us clearly. Thank you. A poignant verse to me lately, “But remember the former days, when, after enlightenment, you endured a great conflict of sufferings . . . For you showed sympathy . . . . Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.” Hebrews 10: 32,34,35-36. Amen.

  15. katie,
I don't even know if you'll get this comment. I hope so. We've never met, but I found out about your blog this afternoon, and you've been on my mind all day. You are so inspiring. Seriously, every story and every photo just left me in both awe and anguish. in awe of God who continues to come through for you, but in anguish for the suffering of the children and for the burdens you bear. reading your story has really impacted how I view my own life. In some ways, I hope to be like you, in other ways, it's not my calling. But I'm glad Jesus makes us sisters. This is so beautiful. You are beautiful.
    Warmly~ Grace.

  16. “When a man's ways are pleasing to the Lord, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him” (Proverbs 16: 7). I can't even begin to imagine how pleased the Lord is when he looks at you and sees a heart that breaks for the things that breaks His. Praising Jesus for this gift… we printed out your family picture so we can be praying for you each by name.

You can pray that we would see clearly God's plan for how He may choose to expand our family. May we have a heart that is open to hear His calling.

    Thanking God for you.

  17. Will continue to pray because I know that God can do all things…thought you might like this quick story….happened to my niece last week.

….”she and her two daughters were on their way to a homeschool meeting. And while driving daughter forgot her apple at home. She was quite upset because it was to be part of the dessert they were making for the homeschool work. My niece started to pray and ask God to somehow provide an apple for S. She also had no time to stop at the grocery store or they would have been late. So while they were driving, they turned a corner onto the cul-de-sac where they were to meet and an apple from a tree by the neighbours house fell off the branch right in front of her vehicle. Well, she jumped out and grabbed the apple and just started praising God.”

What a reminder that if God cares about a little girl not bringing an apple, and answers her mothers prayers…. how much more He cares and hears the cries of a mother (you) and your children in Uganda. God is going to do incredible and awesome things with this situation….we truly will stand in awe of His majesty and power. Amen.

  18. I recently found your blog through a friend, and I LOVE it. You are an incredible godly woman. I will continue to pray for your precious family. God has given me a heart for orphans since I was a little girl myself, and specifically African orphans in the last year. Please pray that God will make clear to me how I can serve and reach orphans for Him. I currently teach kindergarten at a Christian inner city school and love it. My husband is in grad. school for Christian counseling. We are very happy with our life here, but I have such a burden for African orphans. I know that God won't call me to Africa and leave my husband here, so I just want clarity and wisdom on what I can do with this passion God has placed in me. Thanks!!

  22. Hey Katie,
I was directed to your site by a friend that had come across your blog. I have enjoyed keeping up with you and your family and please know that you are in my prayers! I myself, just turned 20, will be traveling to the Philippines in December and will be staying indefinitely and will be working in an orphanage. I appreciate your willingness to follow God's calling on your life and know that it isn't always easy, but its what we must, as Children of God do, we must go when He calls! You and your family will be in my prayers! God Bless, Brittany

  23. Katie, Still praying also. Your faith is so inspiring. Could you please pray for my anxiety. I know it sounds like a minor thing -but it is very debillitating to me. I am very anxious and panicky a lot. And I am alone with my 3 kids – my husband has to work out of state because he can't find a job at home. And we have only seen him 2 times this year. I cry all the time. Life is hard. Thank you so much, I'll keep praying for you too. πŸ™‚

  24. when we saw you on our last day in Jinja and you mentioned where you'd been…i knew exactly how unnerving that visit can be.

as our family sat in the backyard sipping our coffee, i silently prayed asking the Lord to do what He does best.

i am so glad to hear like it is all working out.

i wanted to say to you that day so many things, but knew your friends were there encouraging you better than i could.

The Lord is never surprised by our circumstances, even though we are at times. He never is. Will continue to pray all gets done decently and in order.

  25. Wow, I just found your blog today and have spent the last three hours reading it. Amazing! Beautiful! I will definitely be following your posts and praying for your beautiful family.
Would you pray for our family as well? My husband and I have been fostering two little girls (ages 2 and 4) for the last year. We are hoping to adopt them. There are a few big court days coming up when the decision to leave them with us or return them to their birth parents will happen. They both suffered horrible things while with the birth parents and are terrified of having to go back. We are begging God to turn the heart of the judge in our (and the girls') favor. We would love to have your prayers joining ours. Thank you for posting your life for all of us to read. It has been encouraging, challenging, heartbreaking and wonderful.
